LUKE HALLAM - BLOG FEEDBACK – 12th JANUARY 2010

PROBLEM ANALYSIS

+ Clear decision on brief, film choice, director/theme and approach for ident content. Audience is considered. Clear vision.

- What television channel and time of day will these be aired? You have defined who its for, but where might they see it?

CONTEXTUAL UNDERSTANDING

+ Clear knowledge of how Tarantino references older genres and design elements. Very strong and highly focused.

– Seek outside influences from other genres, not just Tarantino’s direct/obvious references. Perhaps need to rein it in a little and identify alternate ways to address the brief. Widen the scope a little at least now, before narrowing down to such a strong focus.

RESEARCH

+ A good start on referencing older films, but …

- Build on this and delve deeper into 70’s film and document your findings. Let your research affect how you interpret Tarantino’s films. This may provide alternate angles from which to resolve the brief.

DESIGN DIRECTION

+ Clear ideas on type and colour. Good examples of pre existing type.

– Clarify on use of photography or not. Focus your research into primary examples and experimentation. What will your interpretation of this research produce?

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Look further into old Western movies. Tarantino loves spaghetti westerns. He described Inglorious Basterds as ‘a spaghetti western with WW2 iconography’.

CHECK OUT

Apple iPod adverts … do these contemporary examples tie into what you could produce?

Casino Royale trailer. We know you have, but identify the useful and relevant elements and document them.
